• His son, Prahlad, was a devoted follower of Vishnu, which angered the king.
• The king tried to kill Prahlad several times, but Lord Vishnu always protected him.
• Holika, the demon king’s sister, had a boon that made her immune to fire. She tricked Prahlad into sitting on a pyre with her.
• However, due to divine intervention, Holika burned to ashes while Prahlad remained unharmed.
• This event symbolized the victory of good over evil, which is why Holi is celebrated.

The burning of Holika is re-enacted on the night before Holi in the ritual known as Holika Dahan.

• Traditional songs and dances are performed in every community.
• People visit their loved ones, exchange sweets like gujiya and thandai, and spread festive cheer.

Holi Puja Vidhi: How to Perform Pujan at Home

Performing Puja is believed to bring good luck and positive energy. Here’s a simple step-by-step Puja Vidhi you can follow at home:

• Take a bath and wear clean clothes.
• Set up a small altar or mandir with a picture or idol of Lord Vishnu or Radha-Krishna.
• Offer flowers, fruits, and sweets to the deities.
• Light incense sticks and offer them to the deities.
• Offer water and milk to the deities.
• Recite mantras or bhajans to seek the blessings of the deities.
• Finally, distribute prasad or sweets to your family and friends.
